GETTING A SHELTER BED AT GRACE

If you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness and is looking for emergency shelter, we are here to help. Due to the high volume of inquiries regarding getting a shelter bed, we are unable to respond to calls, voicemails, and emails. You must arrive in person to be assigned a shelter bed, we cannot reserve or hold beds.

When are shelter bed entries conducted?

Available Night by Night Shelter bed entries will be assigned at 3:30 PM each day in the Community Services Center (Building 7). Guests must be present at that time to confirm their bed; otherwise, they will be skipped over and moved to the end of the list.

How do I get a shelter bed?

All guests begin in our Night by Night Shelter, which provides a safe place to sleep nightly from 7 PM – 7 AM. Guests may bring one bag and may stay for up to 30 days while waiting for a long-term shelter bed. As beds open in the long-term shelter, guests from NxN may be moved over to continue their pathway toward housing and begin working with a Housing Specialist. If you’re interested in a NxN bed, check in with a Safety Ambassador in Building 1 Monday – Friday between 8:30 AM – 3 PM to get an updated intake and to have your name placed on the standby list. The standby list is reset weekly on Mondays. Available NxN bed entries will be assigned at 3:30 PM each day in the Community Services Center (Building 7). Guests must be present at that time to confirm their bed; otherwise, they will be skipped over and moved to the end of the list.

Do I have to put my name on the bed sign-up sheet every day?

The bed sign-up sheet resets weekly on Mondays. If you do not get a bed, you will need to show up Monday – Friday between 8:30 AM – 3 PM to get an updated intake and to have your name placed on the list again.

Can I reserve a shelter bed over the phone?

We do not take reservations for shelter beds. You must arrive in person between 8:30 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday, to put your name on the bed sign-up sheet.

Does GRACE Marketplace have a family shelter?

No, we only serve adults who are 18 years of age or older. If your family is experiencing homelessness we encourage you to reach out to St. Francis House, Family Promise of Gainesville, or call United Way 211.
