12 Hours to Do Something Amazing

Updated: 3 days ago

Every single day, 365 days a year, our doors open each morning at 7 AM. What follows is a day full of various programs, services, and support that someone might need when they find themselves without a place to call home. And after 12 hours, when our doors close to the public at 7 PM, the services and support still continue as our guests wind down to rest in their beds in our dorm after a long day of working hard to end their homelessness.

A day in the life at GRACE, working hard to get back into housing, could be very different from one guest to the next. Each guest works with a case manager to craft a housing plan based on their situation and needs. Our programs and services are always available – no matter an individual’s circumstance.

Someone may choose to start their day with breakfast at Café 131, the free dining hall right on our campus. They could choose to get their laundry done, check their mail, visit the computer lab to complete a job application, or stop by the GRACE Boutique to grab free clothing.

Following a one-on-one check-in with their case manager about their housing goals, they may head back to the café for another meal, whether it be lunch or dinner. Those guests who have a furry friend enjoy the dog park or meet with our Animal Welfare Manager for any pet-related needs.

By the time the end of the day comes around, it’s been a long day of working diligently to find a place to call home, all while fitting in a shift at work, too. Eventually, it’s time to head to their bed in the dorms of our emergency shelter. All the while, our team is available on campus to ensure our guests have the support and safety they need.

And behind the scenes, our donors and volunteers are at the core of ensuring someone has the support they need from the moment they arrive at our low-barrier shelter. Every moment at GRACE, every service provided, and every act of care is a testament to what we can achieve together. Each contribution, big or small, creates a ripple of impact, moving people in need towards permanent housing.

Please consider making a gift today to ensure GRACE can make each minute count for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
