Cooking up an End to Homelessness

When you looked up recipes during the holiday season, there likely were plenty of options and variations to choose from, even for just one dish. The recipe to end homelessness is no different! With agencies worldwide working hard to end homelessness, many have their own ways of supporting the people they serve.

As with any recipe, there are various variables to consider: How many people are you serving? Where are you preparing the meal? Where will you seat everybody who is attending your meal? At GRACE, we consider similar variables: How many people experiencing homelessness are we serving each day? Where can our guests access the services they need? How are we helping folks find housing, and where are they finding emergency shelter while that happens?

Since 2014, we have been perfecting our own recipe for ending homelessness. After nearly 12 years of serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness, of course, we’ve had to make adjustments here and there, add new ingredients, and perhaps even a dash more of a particular ingredient, too. What we know for sure, though? The main ingredient to ending homelessness is housing, and the secret ingredient is YOU.

Over time, we’ve added more emergency shelter beds, a Veteran Dorm, warm meals, access to basic needs, the animal welfare program, and so much more. With all these programs and services available, we are able to serve hundreds of people every single day, all at our campus. As a low-barrier shelter, anyone is welcome to a seat at our table, no matter their background, sobriety, or if they have an ID.

With the generous support of people like you, we can continue to help folks get off the street and back into housing. GRACE is open 24/7, 265 days a year, where our staff works around the clock to ensure our guests have what they need to make their housing goals a reality.

When you donate today, you become the final ingredient for our recipe for ending homelessness, and help mix up the recipe for success for hundreds of people each year. Thanks to our friends at the Wagmore Foundation, the first $20,000 in donations will be MATCHED, doubling the serving size of this recipe. Here at GRACE, ending homelessness isn’t just our mission — it’s something we’re cooking up together. And for us, there is no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen.

WE'RE ON A MISSION TO END HOMELESSNESS

Our mission is simple: to end homelessness. We achieve that goal by removing the typical barriers that keep people from getting help and providing them with safe shelter, effective services, and permanent housing solutions.
