During Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, GRACE Marketplace celebrates serving over 1,000,000 meals since opening in 2014.
Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week takes place November 12 - November 20, 2022. GRACE will celebrate serving 1,000,000 meals on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, to raise awareness about the importance of providing warm meals, shelter, and basic needs. On this day, Alpha Epsilon Delta will volunteer in Café 131, the GRACE dining hall, to serve a meal to people who need a warm meal. Café 131 is open 365 days a year to serve three meals on weekdays and two meals on weekends.
“Housing is the only solution to homelessness, but along the way, Café 131 has done an amazing job of making sure people can tackle the challenges of the day with some food in their bellies. It’s an honor to have been able to feed so many meals to so many people, and to work with some outstanding volunteers to help make that happen,” Jon DeCarmine, Executive Director of GRACE Marketplace said.
GRACE Marketplace is a one-stop homeless resource center serving Gainesville and Alachua County. We provide services for anyone experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our services include emergency shelter, permanent housing, street outreach, showers, hot meals, storage, case management, job training, and providing space to our partners to provide health care and other services. GRACE Marketplace is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization.
